Guide to Buying Property in Turkey

Property NewsHistorically, it was nearly impossible in most instances for a foreign national to purchase real estate in Turkey. Indeed, for the most part, Turkey maintained a nearly absolutely blanket prohibition against foreign nationals having the ability to directly purchase and own real estate in that country.

The dogs have a compound in Marmaris

Icmeler NewsI am a regular visitor to Icmeler, and have been for over 10 years, but each year I notice the poor Street Cats, being a cat lover, I always go to Tansas and feed them on my way round the town. The rumour going round is that at the end of each season Icmeler council sets down poison to secure the deaths of any remaining cats in the area, this is barbaric, we don't live in the 18th Century anymore, we live in times where we can have cats as pets and have them neutered so they don't multiply. I fail to
see how poisoning them solves the problem? All that is happening is there being used as gimmicks; throughout the year to attract tourists like myself, then when they have served there purpose, you do away with them like there vermin. I am sorry but it has to STOP and I intend on doing whatever it takes to make sure it stops.

Turkey beat Croatia 3-1 on penalties on Friday, after their Euro 2008

Icmeler News
Turkey beat Croatia 3-1 on penalties on Friday, after their Euro 2008 quarterfinal finish 1-1 after extra time. Turkey were weakened by a number of injuries, as well as suspensions to keeper Volkan Demirel and defender Mehmet Aurelio, and Croatia looked better on the day, and had the better of the scoring chances. But the Turks prevailed, and will meet Germany, who beat Portugal 3-2 on Thursday, in the first semifinal on Wednesday.

The game was fast-paced but frustrating, with both sides creating plenty of unfinished chances, but it ended dramatically with two goals in the final minute of extra time. The first goal came in the 119th minute, when Ivan Klasnic headed in for Croatia at the near post, after some nice work by Luka Modric. The game looked to be Croatia’s, but Turkey got one back in thrilling fashion when Semih Senturk’s left-footed shot took a deflection to beat Croatian keeper Stipe Pletikosa. Icmeler News Marmaris

The Queen and Prince Philip are travelling to Turkey

National NewsThe Queen and Prince Philip are travelling to Turkey for a four-day state visit, their first to the country since 1971. During the trip, they will lay a wreath at the tomb of Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern, secular Turkey. They will also be guests at a state banquet hosted by President Abdullah Gul and his wife Hayrunnisa. She is likely to wear an Islamic headscarf despite a ban on them in public and governmental building.

The BBC's royal correspondent Peter Hunt said the controversial issue of the headscarf would confront the Queen as soon as she stepped off the plane. Turkey's staunchly secular military is deeply opposed to headscarves being worn, while the ruling party, which has Islamic roots, believes religious symbols should be more openly accepted.

 Turkey has been bombarding PKK

National News
Turkey has been bombarding Kurdish rebel positions in northern Iraq with aircraft and artillery, the Turkish military has said. At least 15 rebels died in cross-border shelling on Thursday as they prepared to attack targets in Turkey, it added. Air strikes were carried out on Friday, but it was unclear how many casualties had been caused by the raids. In a week-long offensive last month, Turkey targeted bases it said were used by rebels for cross-border attacks.

Milan won out over the Turkish port city of Izmir in a vote of 86-65 by members

World News
Milan won out over the Turkish port city of Izmir in a vote of 86-65 by members of the Paris-based International Exhibitions Bureau. In Izmir, crowds waving flags and mistakenly cheering prematurely for their city left the town square disappointed. The broadbased theme proposed by winner Milan is "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life," touching on health, the environment and shaping sustainable human spaces of the future.

Celebrations were to be held in Milan's Piazza Duomo. In Milan, Enrico Pazzali, general director of the city's Fiera, or convention and exhibition center, called the vote a "great victory." The Fiera is listed on the Milan stock exchange and its shares soared early Monday on expectations Milan would win.
